Building the first solar system in Godot
CONTRABAND 2: Beyond the Fold is in development in Godot. This note covers only what is already true: an early solar-system scene exists, and the visual direction is a graphical leap from Edge of the Fold.
Goal
Stand up a real-time 3D Godot foundation for the sequel, starting with a solar-system view rather than another JavaScript client.
Current state
The project is in development. An early in-engine scene is running: a central star, orbital paths, several planetary bodies, and a player ship. That capture is development footage, not final key art.
Architecture
CONTRABAND 2 is being built in Godot. CONTRABAND: Edge of the Fold used a custom JavaScript stack with Three.js. No further engine-module map is published yet.
Rendering / scale
The new visual direction is a graphical leap from the first game. Scale, lighting, body count, and ship presentation may change. Nothing on screen is locked.
What works
An early solar-system view is running in Godot well enough to be treated as the first development screenshot subject.
Known limitations
Work in progress. Visible bodies, orbits, and the player ship are not a promise of the shipping game. No store page, platform list, story outline, or release date has been announced.
Next milestone
Not announced.
WIP screenshots
This is a development screenshot from the Godot solar-system scene, not final key art. More captures live on the CONTRABAND 2 page.
Development footage and visuals are work in progress and subject to change.
