Chapter 2 walkthrough
This is a complete walkthrough for Chapter 2 walkthrough in CONTRABAND: Edge of the Fold. It assumes you have not yet played this section. If you have, skip to the strategy notes.
Opening
You enter this chapter with whatever resources you carried over from the previous chapter. Spend the first 30 minutes of real time in your home region scoping market spreads before committing to the chapter arc.
Key decisions
This section has at least three decisions that branch the narrative. The most consequential one happens early — before you have full information about its implications. The game intends this. Trust your reading of the situation rather than waiting for clearer signals.
Recommended route
For a first run, follow the obvious mission markers. The map will guide you to the next plot beat. Side content is optional but improves the chapter's emotional payoff. Most pilots spend 4–8 hours per chapter on a first playthrough.
Combat encounters
Expect 3–6 combat encounters in this chapter. None of them require a top-tier ship; the chapter is balanced for whatever hull you brought in. Focus on managing shields rather than tanking hull damage.
Side content worth doing
This chapter has 2–4 side missions that pay dividends in the chapter's main arc. They are not flagged as required but completing them changes the dialogue you see at the chapter's end.
Boss or set-piece
The chapter ends with a set-piece encounter. Save before approaching it. The encounter has at least two outcomes worth seeing — players often replay it once to see the alternative.
What carries over to the next chapter
Resources, reputation, crew loyalty, and a few decision flags carry forward. Some flags only trigger payoff several chapters later. Pay attention to choices even when they seem to have no immediate consequence.
Common mistakes
The most common mistake in this chapter is rushing the main missions without building income. Without a stable economy, the next chapter's content becomes punishing. Spend at least one in-game session on trade or mining before the chapter's midpoint.
